What is a direct cremation?

A direct cremation simply involves taking your loved one directly to the crematorium with no formal ceremony. There is normally no family or friends present however this is optional.

 
 

Advantages of a Direct Cremation

·       It is the most cost-effective type of cremation available

·       There is less to organise through personalised extras not being included

·       The funeral can be completed in a quicker timescale

Disadvantages

·       Family and friends might not agree with the choice.

·       Normally mourners cannot attend.

·       Relatives risk not being given closure that an attended bespoke funeral can provide.

·       Direct cremation does not allow people to celebrate the life of the person who has passed away.

·       All of the above might affect how someone bereaves.

What to be aware of?

If you use an internet-based company this could mean your loved one going to a mortuary and crematorium that is hundreds of miles away - not giving you the option to visit the chapel of rest or organise a funeral locally.


How much is a direct cremation?

The cost of a direct cremation is £1550.00, we will respectfully notify you of the day and time of the cremation.

This covers:

• Collection of your loved one

• Care of the deceased prior to cremation

• Provision of a simple coffin

• Transportation to a crematorium of our choice

• Cremation and Doctors fees

• Attendance of the necessary staff

• Collection or scattering of cremated remains at the crematorium

Extras that can be added are

• Arranging the cremation at Cannock or Stafford with the provision of a hearse – this will enable you to see your loved one arrive and for a few people to go into the chapel to witness the committal - £245.00

• Chapel of Rest - £250.00

• Ashes Casket - £130.00

• Scattering Tubes - £15.00

*Full payment is required in advance of the direct cremation taking place.
